Mrs. Meyer’s 4th grade class began studying plants and leaves this week. As a project, the 4th grade class went outside and each found a leaf. Afterwards, they each glued it on their paper and described the leaf using the classifications they read about in their text books. The students learned that leaves come in many different shapes (round, narrow, heart-shaped, triangular, etc.) and that they can also have different textures (smooth, rough, etc.). The most exciting things the students discovered is that they can have different amounts of veins. Some of the leaves the students found had lots of veins, while others had only a few. It’s fun to be able to go outside and learn about science!
