Mrs. Meyer’s fourth grade class has begun studying the regions of the United States. The first region they have been studying is the Northeast Region. As part of the unit, the class studied the Statue of Liberty which is in New York, one of the Northeast Region states. The student’s listened to the book “The Story of the Statue of Liberty” by Betsy Maestro and Giullio Maestro. As they listened to the story, the students took notes of the important facts. As part of the project, the students chose three of those facts and wrote them out and colored a picture of the Statue of Liberty to go along with it. The students really enjoyed learning about the Statue of Liberty and their favorite part was learning that it was actually built twice (once in France, and once when it arrived in the U.S.)!
