The sixth grade class recently completed the Hunter Education Program with Deputy Josh Boeger. The course lasted about six weeks and at the end of the program, the students were required to take an exam. All nine sixth grade students passed the exam and will now receive their card in the next few months. According to the Missouri Department of Conservation website, the Hunter Education Program provides a foundation in hunting safety and ethics. It also instills responsibility, improves skills and knowledge, and encourages interaction between beginner and veteran hunters. If anyone plans to hunt during a Missouri firearms season or they are acting as an adult mentor, they MUST first complete an approved hunter-education certification program and provide proof of completion. The Missouri’s hunter education course is required for any hunter born on or after Jan. 1, 1967.
